Title: The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales of Mystery and Imagination

Author: Edgar Allan Poe

Characters: Narrator, Roderick Usher, Roderick Sister.

Summary of the book

The narrator had a friend whom he went to visit because he was sick.

Roderick Usher (his friend) lived in an old house, which caused the barrister to feel sorrow and horror. Roderick had a twin sister who was sick; no one knew what illness she had.

One day, Roderick’s sister died, or so they thought. The sister had not died, but unknowingly, they buried her in a coffin. Roderick felt wrong with his mind and thoughts because something was not leaving him alone when he suddenly found his sister covered in blood and debris. A few seconds later, the sister fell to the floor, and this time, she died. Upon seeing this, Roderick was also moved by the horror of seeing this scene. When Roderick died, the house collapsed and the narrator ran out; when the moon rose… it was red.

Personal Opinion

If you like horror and suspense, this book is for you. This book, Tales of Mystery and Imagination, has some stories to shock you. It’s entertaining, and you never get bored. In my opinion, the one I recommend and liked the most was “The Tell-tale Heart”; it has a good plot, the suspense when discovering the body, the nervousness, and how crazy it is. It´s fantastic, you never get bored. You could read it a thousand times and feel those chilling sensations.
